The City of Lappeenranta is heading towards health tourism

According to MTV 3 - the commercial TV channel in Finland. The city of Lappeenranta, close to the Russian border, is planning to dive into health tourism by building a new hospital. This public & private partnership is a joint project of Spa chain Holiday Club, Nordic Clinic and Eksote (Social and health authorities of South Carelia Province). The hospital is planned to open 2014 - 2015 and will be serving both local Finnish users and foreing health tourists (

Lappeenranta is a city in the middle of Saimaa Lake region with fresh air and beautiful sceneries. It is also a very popular destination among the Russian shopping tourists, as it is only a couple of hours away from St. Petersburg, a city with more than 5 million inhabitants.
